The Seattle Seahawks selected DK Metcalf in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he went on to play six seasons with Seattle. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder became an instantly featured offensive weapon for Seattle because of his unique blend of size, strength and speed.

“At any point in time, he can put points on the board wherever you're at," Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said. "He's a massive problem for defenses.”

In 2024, Metcalf became the first player in franchise history to register three consecutive 100-yard games in Weeks 2 through 4. His six years with the Seahawks were marked by multiple highlight plays every season, as he functioned as a prime playmaker for Russell Wilson and Geno Smith.

In his rookie year, Metcalf started 15 games and in his pro debut, he set a team record for receiving yards in a first game with 89. He became one of two receivers, along with Randy Moss, to start his NFL career with at least 50 receptions, 900 yards and five touchdowns in each of his first six seasons. He soared past the 1,000-yard mark three times and set a single-season franchise record with 1,303 yards in 2020.

In 2020, Metcalf was named a second-team All-Pro and was also confirmed as a Pro Bowler for the first time, while also getting the honor in 2023. He logged the most receiving yards (3,170) in a player's first three seasons as a Seahawk. In his rookie year, Metcalf drew more national recognition by totaling 160 yards and a TD in an NFC Wild Card Game win at Philadelphia. He finished with a career-high 12 TD receptions in 2021.

In Week 7 of the 2020 season, Metcalf made one of the most memorable recovery plays in NFL history at Arizona. Budda Baker captured an interception at the Cardinals’ two-yard line and Metcalf, who was 10.89 yards away from the defender at the time of the pick according to ESPN, raced to take down Baker at the Seahawks’ eight-yard line to prevent a TD. Metcalf hit a top speed of 22.64 mph, which was the second-fastest pursuit speed in the NFL at the time that season, per NextGenStats. He covered 108.76 yards, as noted by ESPN.

Metcalf’s effort against the Cardinals was illustrative of why former head coach Pete Carroll and his teammates held the wide receiver in such high regard.

“This young man is a cutting-edge performer in all ways,” Carroll said. “The way he applies himself, his expectations, the way he’s willing to work. There is nothing he is not willing to do to get to the best of his abilities and potential.”
