West joined Seattle in 1981 after spending his rookie season with the St. Louis Cardinals and four seasons with the San Diego Chargers. During his time in Seattle, West earned a nomination for Seahawks Man of the Year in 1984. He tied Jon Ryan for the second-most punts in a single season with 95 and ranks fifth in franchise history for both total punts (299) and punting yards (11,518).
