The 14th overall pick in 1977, the second draft in franchise history, August went on to become the team’s longtime starting right tackle. After having a reserve role as a rookie, August went on to start 90 games over the course of the next seven seasons before he was traded to Pittsburgh midway through the 1984 season. In 1983, August was part of the line that blocked for Curt Warner’s Pro-Bowl rookie campaign in which he rushed for 1,449 yards and 13 touchdowns while the Seahawks reached the postseason for the first time in franchise history, advancing to the AFC Championship Game.
