Seattle selected Wooden in the second round of the 1990 NFL Draft, a pick that was acquired in a trade from New England that also secured the third overall pick, Cortez Kennedy. Wooden led the team in total tackles twice, in 1991 and 1995. He also earned the Steve Largent Award in 1995 after leading the NFL in solo tackles with 114. In 1996, he served as team captain. By the end of his seven seasons in Seattle, Wooden recorded six interceptions, forced five fumbles, and blocked one PAT. His nine career fumble recoveries are tied for eighth-most in franchise history. After his time in Seattle, he spent one season each with the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders before retiring.
