Tyler Lockett spent 10 seasons with the Seahawks, becoming one of the most reliable and durable pass-catchers in team history. In the 2015 NFL Draft, the Kansas State standout was selected in the third round by Seattle, which traded three draft choices to move up and tab him with the 69th overall pick.

Lockett made an instant impact in his rookie campaign, becoming the only first-year player to be named to the Associated Press’ All-Pro First Team in 2015. On the first punt return of his career, Lockett raced 57 yards for a touchdown. He also set a franchise record for punt return yards in a game with 139 and was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month twice. He was the first NFL player since Gale Sayers to register at least five receiving touchdowns, a kick return touchdown and a punt return touchdown as a rookie.

In 2016, Lockett was the kick returner on the AP All-Pro Second Team. In 2017, he totaled 197 kickoff return yards in Week 11 and was named a second-teamer for a second consecutive year. He caught a career-high 10 touchdowns passes in 2018, and when he was targeted by Russell Wilson, the quarterback had a 158.3 passer rating. No other NFL receiver has ever posted a perfect passer rating when targeted more than 15 times.

“For me, regardless of who I’m going against, I’m going to win every time. That’s just the mentality that I have,” Lockett said.

From 2018 to 2022, Lockett caught eight-plus touchdown passes in five straight seasons. He surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in every season from 2019 to 2022, tying Steve Largent for the most consecutive campaigns with 1,000-plus receiving yards in franchise history. He caught a career-high and franchise record 100 passes while tying his career high for touchdowns with 10 again in 2020. Lockett finished with a career-high 1,175 receiving yards in 2021.

In a 2020 game at Arizona, Lockett delivered the best single-game performance of his career, totaling 15 receptions for 200 yards and three touchdowns. The reception total matched a Seahawks single-game record held by Largent, and the yardage total was the second-best in team history.

“He’s been a marvelous pro, and he makes difficult plays look routine,” said former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

Lockett was admired for his sturdiness, as he never played less than 15 games in season. He is tied to Largent as more than just another outstanding wide receiver in team lore. Both former Seahawks fan favorites are from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they share the same birthday. He is second behind only Largent in franchise history in receptions (661), receiving yards (8,594) and receiving touchdowns (69). Lockett also won the team’s prestigious Steve Largent Award three times, and was the team’s nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award twice.

Lockett was a top fan favorite who also works as a real estate agent in Washington and he was regularly active in the community, including visiting patients at St. Joseph Medical Center. He also participated in an Emmy-winning NFL 360 documentary about Black Wall Street and his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
